MATT COLLERAN: PRESIDENT & CEO
Matt Colleran oversees all aspects of MCA’s business, contract negotiation, salary arbitration, amateur advising, player development, athlete marketing, wealth management, as well as assisting with MCA Client Foundation and Non-Profit formulation and management. As a Certified Player Agent, Matt has negotiated multiple record-setting Salary Arbitration Awards and Free-Agent Player Contracts. Matt has represented many elite athletes, including several All-Stars, past and present.
Matt has been working in professional sports at its highest levels for almost twenty years. Matt began his career as an Athlete Representative in 1995. Matt’s resume also includes eight years Front Office experience when he served as an Executive with the Chicago Blackhawk Hockey Team from 1997-2004. While working with the Chicago Blackhawks, Matt was responsible for the day to day hockey operations of the team which managed assets in excess of $100 million annually. Matt was also involved with several NHL First Year Player Drafts which produced over 35 NHL players, a substantial number of which comprised the majority of the 2010 and 2013 Chicago Blackhawk Stanley Cup Championship Teams.
In 2004, Matt leveraged all of his experiences and returned to the Athlete Representation side of professional sports. Matt has since formulated his own company, MCA Sports and Entertainment, exclusively representing professional baseball players.
JEFF FANNELL: LEGAL CONSULTANT / SALARY ARBITRATION
For over 10 years, Jeff Fannell has worked at the highest levels of professional sports as a litigator, negotiator and advisor. From 2000 through 2010, Jeff served as Assistant General Counsel for the Major League Baseball Players Association. In that role, Jeff represented all Major League Baseball players in all areas of collective bargaining. He also provided strategic advice and counsel to certified player agents in individual contract negotiations and in matters arising under player contracts, the collective bargaining agreement and the Major League Rules. In addition, Jeff represents several leading sports personalities in the areas of sports media and marketing.
Upon leaving the MLBPA, Jeff established a private consulting practice where he continues to advise baseball related businesses. He also handles both grievance and salary arbitration cases for the National Hockey League Players’ Association (NHLPA). In addition, since 2002, Jeff has served as an Adjunct Professor of Law at his alma mater, St. Johns University School of Law in Queens, NY.
Prior to his work in sports, Jeff was a Field Attorney for the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) in New York City. He also served as an Associate General Counsel to the American Federation of Labor-Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO) from 1997 through 2000.
TIM KENNELLY: CERTIFIED AGENT (AUSTRALIA)
Tim serves as manager of MCA Australian Operations and has been involved in the Australian baseball community for over ten years. His primary responsibilities include scouting and evaluating prospective professional athletes in the Australia and Japan. Tim also assists in the day-to-day management of existing MCA clients.
Prior to MCA, Tim played professional baseball for nine seasons with the Philadelphia Phillies and Texas Rangers organizations. Tim was named a Florida State League All-Star in 2009 and was also awarded the 2012 Phillies Bill Giles award, an award given to the individual who demonstrates love and respect for the game, outstanding work ethic and pride. Tim has also been an important member of the Australian National team since 2009, and also a member of the 5 time championship winning Perth Heat. Tim was awarded the 2012 ABL Helms MVP Award.
Tim grew up playing baseball in Perth and is 1 of 5 brothers, 4 of whom played professional baseball in the United States. As the oldest brother of the 4 who played professional baseball, Tim was able to help, share and contribute to the International Free Agent signings of his younger brothers. Tim has an incredibly large and unique network of contacts throughout the Australian baseball community, as well as the US professional scouting industry which are critical in the negotiating phase of International Free Agency.
Having previously been a client of MCA, Tim brings a different perspective to the company. In addition, Tim’s recent experiences of being a professional Australian player gives him a unique insight towards helping aspiring professional baseball players from Australia with meaningful perspective.
TOM SEGAL: MARKETING/DIGITAL MEDIA MANAGER
Tom serves as Athlete Marketing Manager for MCA Clientele. His primary responsibilities include managing the content, promotion and digital management of our professional athletes.
Prior to MCA, Tom worked for the Chicago White Sox and the Chicago Bulls Academies as a Digital Marketing Specialist. His responsibilities included managing the company website, digital newsletter creation and social media management for these properties. Tom also has previously worked with a global sports agency where he created multiple national and local partnerships.
Tom graduated from The Ohio State University with a degree in Strategic Communications and earned his Masters in Sport Management from Northern Illinois University.
